RICHMOND HILL STRENGTHENS BUSINESS TIES IN CHINA

RICHMOND HILL – Town of Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow helped strengthen relations with both Richmond Hill and Chinese businesses along with Chinese government officials at two key events this week as part of a trade mission to China that he is currently on.
As one of the delegates of the Confederation of Greater Toronto Chinese Business Association’s China Business Mission 2010, Mayor Barrow has been traveling across business regions in the East China area over the past week, attending trade shows, business forums and expos and Chinese companies furthering Richmond Hill’s international economic alliances.

“This trade mission to China has been proving prosperous each day I’ve been here,” said Mayor Dave Barrow from China. “Monday’s events are just an example of some of the great relationships we have built over here to solidify our business relations with those on the other side of the world.”

On May 24, Mayor Barrow attended the Canada-China Economic & Business Development Conference in Beijing, China along with close to 70 small and medium size businesses from the Beijing region and numerous Chinese government officials.

“This conference allowed me to share information about our diverse and thriving economy to an audience of potential future Richmond Hill businesses,” said Mayor Barrow. “Many were impressed by the Town’s educated workforce, large Chinese population and the many amenities that make Richmond Hill such a livable town and a great place for locating their business.”

Later that evening, the Mayor attended the signing of a million dollar contract at the Canadian Embassy between Richmond Hill-based software company PCI Geomatics and Beijing-based company Beijing Space Eye Innovation Technology Co. Ltd.

“The Town is extremely proud of how successful PCI Geomatics has become and of the great strides they have made in the Chinese and global markets,” said Mayor Barrow. “Supporting current Richmond Hill businesses like PCI Geomatics and building relationships with new ones are key to maintaining and expanding our economic profile.”

Mayor Barrow’s trade mission will also include a visit to Richmond Hill’s sister city Shijiazhuang and then on to Hong Kong to promote Richmond Hill’s foreign investment opportunities, concluding on June 1.
