PCI Geomatics and Cloud Mapping Technologies Officially Announce Opening of the CMT Production Center at LAGF 2014

MEXICO CITY—September 24, 2014: PCI Geomatics, a world-leading developer of remote sensing and photogrammetric software and systems, announces that its Mexican partner, Cloud Mapping Technologies (CMT) has selected the high-speed, automated GeoImaging Accelerator (GXL) image processing system to power its production center. The announcement was made at a launch event held at the Latin American Geospatial Forum (LAGF) in Mexico City.

CMT, which also serves as a PCI Geomatics’ authorized reseller in Mexico, selected the GXL system as the cornerstone of their investment in a highly automated image production center designed to process large volumes of imagery quickly, efficiently, and with a high degree of quality. CMT’s production center is ideally suited to help customers who are faced with sudden peaks in demand for their color-balanced, orthorectified mosaic products, derived from raw aerial or satellite imagery. The system delivered to CMT is capable of processing both satellite and aerial imagery.

“This agreement is a milestone commitment by a customer that has invested in our GXL technology to anchor an important regional business,” said Arnold Hougham, VP, Sales and Marketing at PCI Geomatics.  “The CMT Production Center is focused on servicing a market that has increasing access and ownership of imagery, but is not able to process these large volumes of data in a timely manner until now.”

“We are very excited to have the speed, accuracy, and multi-sensor support of the GXL at our disposal here in Mexico,” said Oscar Rossbach, President of Cloud Mapping Technologies. “Processing the volume of imagery our customers require is an enormous task that requires the exceptional speed and automation that only GXL can provide.”
The CMT Production Center will provide a unique opportunity for PCI customers in the region. Through the implementation of this center, a world class facility is now available in region where Latin American customers can receive live demonstrations, training, and benchmarking services more quickly and easily.

PCI Geomatics to Develop a Commercial End-to-End Interferometric Processing Capability for Environmental Monitoring

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Canada—September 11, 2014: PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of remote sensing and photogrammetric software and systems, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the Canadian Space Agency to develop a commercial end-to-end interferometric processing capability for environmental monitoring.

This contract will allow PCI to develop a commercial, end-to-end interferometric processing and visualization capability designed to significantly reduce the processing requirements and operational constraints encountered when using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data by non-SAR experts. The software will automate the processing steps in a flexible and intuitive manner.  The extracted land motion estimates will be more easily integrated as the software will be reformatted to virtually any map projection and combine results with optical, map, vector or cadastral data to enhance the spatial context.

The targeted application areas for this software include mineral extraction, urban subsidence, transportation networks, oil and gas extraction, pipeline monitoring, volcano monitoring, and landslide prediction. The completion of an operational system, combined with high quality, easy to use tools will transition interferometric processing from research to commercial applications.

“PCI Geomatics has a long history in terms of developing software tools to make it easy for end users to work with SAR Imagery,” said David Piekny, Product Marketing Manager at PCI Geomatics. “The addition of interferometric capability to our Geomatica software suite will be a great addition to our SAR capability, which already includes support for airborne and space-based sensors, advanced target and polarimetric analysis, coherent change detection, as well as easy to use workflows for handling the imagery and producing end products.”

The contract, which was awarded through the Canadian Space Agency’s Earth Observation Application Development Program (EOADP), will enable PCI software engineers and Senior SAR scientists to develop this capability and integrate it into Geomatica. A release of the software that includes this new capability is expected in 2016.
