PCI Geomatics renews Gold-Tier Partnership with Esri Inc.

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Canada—January 30, 2012: PCI Geomatics, a world-leading developer of geoimaging software and systems, announced today that is has renewed its Gold-Tier Partnership with Esri Inc. for 2012 through the Esri Partner Network (EPN). An Esri partner since April 2009, PCI Geomatics provides leading-edge technology that integrates with Esri’s ArcGIS solution and allows users to automatically process and analyze satellite imagery from many different sensors.

“Imagery can be used for much more than displaying a backdrop; it’s a key component of geographic analysis,” said Alex Miller, president, Esri Canada. “Imagery improves maps by providing rich context and is also a source for creating new datasets. PCI Geomatics’ powerful geoimaging tools add significant value to GIS workflows by allowing ArcGIS users to extract valuable information from imagery and improve decision-making.”

PCI Geomatics software provides automated image correction capability that plugs directly into ArcToolBox, making it possible to develop customized end-to-end workflows that integrate imagery. PCI offers GeoImaging Tools for ArcGIS, an extension which provides this capability and support for Commercial imagery collected by Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical imagery.

In addition, PCI has recently completed beta development of its SAR for ArcGIS extension, which permits the integration of SAR imagery into ArcGIS for processing and analysis. SAR imagery differs from optical imagery, since images can be collected regardless of solar illumination or the presence of clouds.

PCI is also assisting Esri to complete an ambitious project that will provide global, 1m-resolution satellite imagery through its ArcGIS Online platform to millions of users. Esri is using PCI’s GeoImaging Accelerator (GXL), a high performance computing solution for high-speed ortho-mosaic processing, which has been deployed to its cloud services. Through the use of the highly scalable GXL cloud system, Esri can attain daily production levels of over 3 terabytes of colour balanced, ortho-mosaicked products that will be accessible through ArcGIS Online.

“We look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with Esri,” said Brad Schmidt, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at PCI Geomatics. “We have a number of exciting initiatives underway, including a renewed focus on providing application focused solutions within specific markets together with Esri – including Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Defence/Public Safety”.

Société Topographie Informatique (STI) adds GXL-Aerial system to its production environment

*** version française ci-dessous ***

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Canada—January 23, 2012: PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of geo-imaging software and systems, has announced it delivered a GeoImaging Accelerator (GXL) Aerial processing system to Société Topographie Informatique (STI), a leading Aerial Surveying firm based in Evry, France.

The GXL Aerial system will allow STI to orthorectify and mosaic thousands of UltraCam images per day through the power of distributed processing that leverages Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). The adoption of this technology will result in significantly increased throughput and reduced production costs for STI. GXL Aerial was developed by PCI Geomatics and introduced to the marketplace in October 2010, providing support for Microsoft UltraCam’s digital frame camera series.

The new high speed and highly automated GXL-Aerial system will allow STI to increase production throughput while reducing outsourcing costs, both of which are key factors in remaining competitive. PCI worked with its French Reseller, Latitude Geosystems, and STI to identify the proper configuration for the GXL-Aerial system. Training and initial on-site installation/support were also included in the system delivery.

Brad Schmidt, V.P. of Sales and Marketing at PCI Geomatics commented on the announcement: “We are pleased to have won this important contract for our GXL-Aerial technology, which the customer ultimately selected due to its high degree of automation, as well as its performance and throughput capability. We believe that this win speaks to the state of the art products developed by PCI Geomatics, and the value that our GXL Aerial technology brings to our customers."

“The speed of the GXL-Aerial system is impressive, and was a key determining factor in our purchase decision. We have operationally integrated the GXL into our production chain, and are currently processing images captured by our UltraCam Xp camera. The integration of the GXL was very quick, thanks to the technical support provided by PCI Geomatics. We have been able to get up to speed and fully operational in order to process very large projects that had extremely rapid completion time requirements. By using the GXL system, we are able to save time and money – allowing us to expand our business,” commented Mr. Georges Munceanu, Executive Manager and Technical Director, STI.

About GXL-Aerial

GXL-Aerial technology combines high-performance computing with PCI Geomatics expertise to provide significant improvements in automation, speed and efficiency. By optimizing and distributing automated workflows, traditional image-processing is elevated to industrial-strength production.
